I fitted the new headlights and took a spur off the amber side lights into the headlamp side light, its about a 10 minute job. H4 superwhite 50%+ xenon bulbs. Not only can I see in the dark with these on dipped beam, but I can also burn the retinas of oncoming drivers on main beam should I choose to do so. I also have these bulbs fitted into my 3 screw lights, I painted the reflector chrome and it works a treat, backed up by sealed beam high beam spots this is dipped... this is high...
It is worth going for the extra bright H4s. I fitted an Osram (I think) set to mine. And...have your headlights adjusted with you sitting in the driver's seat, as this brings the nose down a bit.
mine were bosch and halfords had them bogof. Still £30 though. Well worth the bucks though as I can see in all conditions now dipped or main
Just had to replace one of my headlights, cost me £20 off ebay. Its a golf mark one unit comes with a hole for side lights as well. As sailor bill said very easy to fit and alot cheaper than JK, machine 7, etc will charge you.
