hi, can anyone help me locate a new replacement for the charcoal filter in the fuel venting system of my 77 westy 2 ltr fuel injection? I have been havin fuel pressure problems this year. The engine runs better with a loose fuel cap! + was wonderin if replacing this filter may help? Thanks in advance + happy camping. Cheers, Bottsy
What condition are the ventilation system rubber hoses/pipe joints, are they all working as they should. If your fuel cap is tight, how does the engine perform?
Welcome! Have a look at this thread on thesamba, loads of troubleshooting and guides for FI. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=482560&sid=80cee516828739b0dca11b0930a589d4 Not worth throwing money at it until you know what the problem is .
exactly - when ours ran rough, we replaced all of the hoses (the vac ones in the engine bay) as they had all perished and its run bang on since then!
Read Ratwell and change the various hoses, including the tank breathers - they won't be in good shape after many years. You don't actually need the charcoal canister. It can be refilled with charcoal from the aquarium shop, if you're keen.
