  1. Just bought a passat.. now been offered a n extended warranty for 300 quid for a year.. never bought a warranty before to be fair I usually buy bangers for a few hundred quid n run them till they pack up.. but I thought I would treat myself.. anyway the company is warantywise with that Quentin fella anybody used or had any dealings with them

  2. You can buy an extended warranty from VW.

Last car I had from a Vw dealership had a two year warranty however I got scammed by them.
When I bought the car the A/C didn’t work that well. I took it back several times. Through-out the process nothing was recorded on paper work. So went the warranty ran out they informed me the main unit on A/C needed replacing.
I keep everything regarding paperwork and looking back nothing was recorded on paper regarding A/C.

Yes I feel stupid and yes I don’t trust dealership anymore.

Put the money in a savings account and only use it for car repairs.

I was very strongly encouraged to purchase a £1000 warranty on a car which I bought for £6000 reduced from about £9000 by the garage as a bank holiday loss leader .. Like they told me no deal unless I bought the warranty.

The car never had any problems, just as well as they printed the policy details off the side of the page in a too-big font. And the underwriters seemed to be nonexistemt too..

Warranties seem to cover things that don't go wrong, or it's your fault if they do. As pikey says may be better off sticking the money in the bank.

  5. I think warranties are a scam. Buy any appliance, tv, microwave, fridge, washing machine etc etc and they look to sell a warranty to make extra profit on top.

If you go for a warranty, its all about the small print and like any insurance policy, they look for ways to not pay up.

    Save the money.

  6. In addition the dealership will expect you to service the vehicle every year regardless of mileage and if you don’t
Then your warranty is nil and vold.

Basically dealership’s are retirment homes for double-glazing salesman.

    lease works for me.

  7. You can lease a brandnew Nissan duke
For £150 a month heated seats lots of extra whats not to like.

Well aside from the looks of the vehicle, aren't you supposed to get ripped off at the end of the rental period when they go around it looking for every imperfection so they can reduce its end value ?

Suppose so but there’s a difference between where and tear and damage just look after it like your supposed to with any vehicle.

Was considering talking kids into a similar deal, but my best mate, who's a mechanic put me off with tales of a neighbour who had his BMW resprayed as it was cheaper than accepting the reduced amount he was offered at trade in time.....don't think he had put it through a hedge, just 3 years wear and tear.
As you say though, it's down to how you care for your vehicle.

Your friend has a valid point
If I damage the alloys there £70 each to repair. I personally can’t be bothered with them as the wife in the past has curbed them. You have to look after it just like owning one. But a used car has just as many problems and more on the positive note your machines got another customer. Just lease one
if you can afford to it’s a no brainier
New car no inherent problems and at the end you hand it back. Seriously if I have the money to buy one I wouldn’t.
Just lease there’s some amazing deals

    I’d guess that didn’t happen.
Re-painting a car would cost many £1000s of pounds. If they won’t accept a few stone chips, they wouldn’t accept a blow over paint job...

Just be careful with leasing - there are plenty of ways for the finance people to ask you for more money - its a hire car not your car, and the repair and mileage bills can add up at the end of the lease.

Read the free advice and consider if you can afford some of the potential horrors.

As was once said "there aint no such thing as a free lunch"

  18. There are two side to every story. I’ve used my warranty twice. Dealer supplied under brand name but administered by a third party company. I’ve had at least £180000 yes that’s correct £18000 worth of parts labour and hire Cars so they can be worth it. If it’s with warrantywise give them a ring and get a quote as a private buyer. I bet it’s cheaper. £300 won’t cover 2hrs labour for some brands
Also check exactly what’s covered. Headlights aren’t H4 lamps on most new cars and cost. Double the £300 per led laser beam light saber Christmas light jelly mould.
