Can't get the water pump/sink to work (73 Westy)

  1. We've picked up a 73 Westy with original interior etc.

Am trying to get the water pump/sink to work but having issues.

We have a shower head/hose attached to the underneath of the Black Whale mk.1v tiptoe pump. Have tried filling the water tank with plenty of water and have pumped away (no pun intended) to create some pressure but can't get any of the water out.

Have checked that the water tank cap is on properly and air tight, and the shower head seems to be too.

Any ideas how to get this working please?

If you need any pics then let me know if which part specifically and I'll post them.
    Cheers

Check the little valves and springs in the pump. Unscrew the spigots on the side of the pump to get at them. Spares from camping shops and yacht chandlers.

  3. Is the pump submerged or an in-line type? If its in-line it will need priming (sucking on!) as the pump will not create enough vacuum in air alone.

It may be a good idea to fit a one way valve to prevent back drain too....
