Making a wood burner. I've found loads of different ones on the net so thought I'd make my own. Made a start last week and due to the fact the valve was stuck solid, I cut across the exposed thread of the valve with a hacksaw, filled with water then left overnight. Me trying to get the fumes to light when filled with water. Left it stand for a week as I had ran out of gas. Cut some 10mm flat bar to make the hinges and cut a singular cut which will be the back edge of the door. When the hinges are attached I cut around the remainder of the door. I still have to dress back the hinges as i cannot full open the door past this point as it is binding. That's it for a few weeks as I go back to work on Monday for 2 weeks.
You have to be so careful with these as there have been a lot of people killed or mamed cutting up oil drums and gas cylinders
It had been left for a week upside down (gas heavier than air). The only thing left in there was the mercaptan smell.
I still have to put a vent in the door and a flue hole at the rear. If it works well I'm gonna build a chimnea for my decking with a vertical chimney from a 19kg bottle
nearly blew my hand off once welding a race tank for a group 6 lambretta that was full of water.....................all except the pocket of vapour that i overlooked like a muppet. that should make a splendid burner bud
