i must be getting old as i usually need a pee in the night, the problem is closing the sliding door again with out waking the camp site(i can't sneak out of the cab doors because little one sleeps in a cab bunk) i have been out fiddled this evening to see if adjustment or greasing will help but no the door still needs a good slam rubbers are 30+ years old so it's not them holding the door off hinges and locks have been cleaned and regreased wheels and striker plate etc have been adjusted and nothing is catching what's the secrete or should i just drink less cider before i go to bed ?
And the serious answer is...even if everything's in good shape, they need a bit of a rolling slam. One answer is to fit another handle at the rear of the door, a la Westies. Then you roll the door forward and just pull the back end in from inside. Much quieter.
My bus is up in the air at the rear atm and if i let go of the door it almost shuts itself I was hoping to improve on its smoothness but after hearing and experiancing others doors ill leave mine well alone Cleaning all the grease out of the runners and rollers and oiling them along with replacing the nylon block Made a massive difference on my van
Maybe the spring that you have to overcome at the last stage to shut the door has somthing to do with it I cant recall any adjustment on it though I wonder if its maybe replacement sills causing problems?? Just thinking out loud now as its an often asked question and would be nice to give diffinitive answers
