can anyone recommend a decent rear light housing
i am after some decent new ones i brought new one think they was about 12 quid and they are pants so i need some good uns
    any idea who sells em

  2. I just got a pair from VW Heritage. They are the cheaper option, as the pricey ones were out of stock, so £26 each. In fact, now they've arrived, they're not bad at all and a big improvement over the originals, as the plastic had perished and bits fell off every time I touched them.

  3. Will post up a picture of them fitted in my resto thread tomorrow as well.

The black cheaps ones are a bit crap. :(
Heritage always seem to be out of the good ones, try Coolair?

The new VWH ones I got didnt have any sort of reflector in them but they are not made out of brittle faded milky plastic. Also they have two fixing bolts one at top and one at the bottom. This beats trying to keep the light on with the bottom bolt.
Oh yes and the rubber stuff keeps water out. And the bulb holders dont fall out.

I fitted LED tail / stop bulbs. Because there is no reflector the rear facing LEDs are actually brighter than filament bulbs too.

But I have learnt my lesson with replacing bus bits. I have kept the old lights so I can replace the new lower quality ones when they get as sad after 5 years as the originals did after 36.
