as per title pulling off in 3rd after rolling down the hill then 1st n 2nd work. Clutch or synchro in gearbox ??? Should I try adjusting clutch cable etc any tips more than welcome!
There is some adjustment at base of gear stick, other than that try front gear selector rod bush, centre rod coupling & rear rod bushes all located under van & down centre.
whs also look and see if all the barrel bushes on the gear stick are all still in place ,Along the cross memebers
Sorry should of said clutch works crunchies when trying to get first or second give it a wiggle and goes straight in. I’ll look weekend hopefully no rain
Have all the bushes and all greased up in the right places. Ta for tips but too dark outside and I keep sneezing waking the neighbours So had to come in I’ll investigate more at the weekend.
mainshaft bearing failing and mainshaft moving back and forth, jamming sychro on the gear cone. its only gonna get worse.
Try adjusting the gear stick plate ....bentley manual will explain how to ....cheap if that's all it is ...and pretty straight forward ...it's at the base of the gear stick on the cab floor .
Adjust cable also checking for correct bend at gearbox end and that tube has not come away from chassis Adjust linkage
when the synchro is jammed (or sticky) you will have problems selecting other gears since it will be as if the gear is still selected and all the other idlers (1st ,2nd and 4th) will be spinning driven by third gear set, making it impossible for the sychros to work (slow and synchronise the 1st 2nd and 4th) - this could happen if you have forks adjusted incorrectly but since you didn’t have it apart its the shaft moving instead jamming it all together. Synchros can also jam if they are cracked.
