camshaft

  1. ok, looking to upgrade my camshaft but all the kits are out of stock. Can get a new camshaft but can the cam gear be removed from the old cam and bolted onto the new one?

Does an engle 100 need heavy duty springs? If so will a standard rocker shaft with 1.25 ratio rockers be able to cope?

  2. The aftermarket cams need an "old-style" 3-bolt cam gear. Likely that your stock cam is a 4-rivet job, so...no.

  3. As snotty says you need a bolt on cam gear
Yes to single heavy duty springs and bolt up shafts would be best
You will also either need to machine down the cam gear bolts to clear the oil pump or buy a clearanced oil pump

  4. ok thanks guys. Going to give it all serious thought as nowhere has the bolt on gear and if I need to change the rocker arms as well it's all starting to spiral financially.

  5. Be aware that the gear, if it's not dished, will likely clout your oil pump, so factor that in as well.

  6. Thinking that I might stick with a new stock cam and lifters, that way I can keep the rocker shafts and ratio rockers I've already bought unless I can find someone who want them and the new springs that came with the new heads should be ok too. I'll have a cat with Paul tomorrow.

    Cheers all.
