I couldn't find a thread on this and thought it might be useful - having now joined the camper club i need to purchase the camper cooking & camping essentials - I really don't want to waste money on buying too much crap that i'll never use - so .... over to you seasoned pro's: I have a twin stove with grill under, no fridge, small sink - pots? pans? utensils? etc - advise away!
have a look in Can Cook, Will Cook plenty of ideas on there http://thelatebay.com/index.php?board=80.0
we have a oven as well as the usual 2 rings and a grill we find if you are away for a few days it gives you more choice of what to eat we also have a small compressor fridge, handy for both camping and day trips out in the van
here you go Jules 'Who's got what' thread http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=10718.0 what people use to cook with
After a few years of using 'camping' equipment I have now decided the way forward is with proper cooking tools. So a good decent Frying pan, sauce pan, tongs, etc - I find it hard to adjust the gas burners as effectively as you can in a kitchen and you dont want the food to burn. Other items that are good are a folding sieve ... a few sponges and lots of tupper wear boxes for supplies
Try This http://www.clubjunior.co.uk/camping-checklist/ Got another I'll post if I can find and this Copy of Westy Packing and Supply List
We camped light for years so we have a good selection of camping stuff that is strong and stackable, like msr stuff http://cascadedesigns.com/msr/cookware/simple-cooking/alpine-stowaway-pots/product they fit into the cupboards no problem and we have a descent sized frying pan. The msr kettle fits into the pan set. Added to that we have small knives with shields that we can shove into a bag with things like a tin opener, corkscrew, little grater, nylon folding spatula, there's other stuff but I can't remember off the top of my head. I like my coffee in the morning so I've got a cafetiere, an espresso thingy too (a handpresso) and a small grinder. All this (and mini camping stoves and gas) goes into the bottom cupboard of the westy kitchen/wardrobe unit. We've survived on that for 4 weeks plus no problem
Bottle opener, Kettle, Mugs, Iphone to order domino's But seriously, take a selection of what you have indoors, then just get a camping version of the stuff YOU actually use.
