The only C & C members I've come across are right wierdos. Their sites also seem full of the sorts of people who drive to the bog blocks.
    Not my cup of tea.

i was a member in my caravan they do some good deals and good meets but it can be cliquey and they like their rules, i don't need to be in it now 'cos it's a bit different with the van, but if i ever went caravanning again i would re-join.

  6. We used to be members. Never again. Yes, you get preferential rates on some sites, some sites are members only, but the majority of site managers I have encountered have been jobsworths and they're not 'friendly', we were not helped by anyone when we had to pack up in a force 10 gale because our awning collapsed, we were just the entertainment. And the rules! Rules, rules, rules. I'm sure there's probably a rule for which way the wind must be blowing before you fart, too.

Small, independent sites are much friendlier, and you don't need to be a member to go to those. You can also find those through ukcampsite.co.uk.

  7. i like to keep a open mind about but heard some of em dont like "our sort" >:D
also our childminder thought we was in the cc and she thought that they sat in each others caravans drinking tea ;)
i said no we sit round a old washing machine with a fire in it drinking beers n alcohols till the morning she thought that was a much better idea :)

  8. I have membership and it was so I can use the lovely clean warm toilets/showers and hook-up. Yes they have their rules but it's common sense stuff like keeping the vegetable area clean so you don't attract animals or clog the sinks.
I don't spend much time on site during the day, I'm usually away exploring the area I'm visiting and at night well you don't have to speak to your neighbour if you don't want to!
I do make a point these days of waving to all campers, motorhomes and even caravans as it does seem a shame that there is this feeling that we somehow shouldn't mix.
It comes down to would you use it?

  9. We were members of the camping and caravanning club ( as opposed to the caravan club) when we were in tents and used loads of their sites. They do have rules, mostly designed to ensure everyone has a good time, but not the most liberal and free thinking definately. The proper sites are really clean and well run, but you don't need to be a member to use them.

The reason we have kept our membership is to be able to use the holiday sites they run during the summer, which are really cheap and no need to book but have less facilities. Ditto the certificated sites.

People are right when they say that the meets are sometimes a bit cliquey and we have definately found that, but we have used the sites and just not tried to join in the cliquey bits and people have always been friendly.
