While we were out yesterday the electric went off in our house. No trip switches gone, nothing. We are all electric apart from a coal fire with back boiler. I called the electricity board chap out to check the main fuse and he said it was all fine, but no power after consumer board. Call an electrician, and off he went. Electrician mate couldn't come until this morning,so what to do?

Dinner was half cooked. Will needed a wash after the football, so used all the tank of hot left in and we all needed to be ready for work etc today.

Da dar. The camper.she had full leisure charge and gas. We cooked lunch n her. Sat in her to make tea and chat. And used her for showers, washing and cooking breakfast this morning. It was nice Sat in the camper on our drive just chatting last night. It was like the good old days.

It was a hidden trip inside the solar panel consumer unit that was the culprit. He flicked the switch and charged me £30 for the call out. Enjoyed the camper night though,it was worth £30 for the family getting together to chat.

I phoned the electrician on your behalf Malc and got a full breakdown of his charges...

Flicking the hidden switch - 50p
Finding the hidden switch - 50p
Knowing enough to even look for a hidden switch in the first place -£29
    :)

I suspected it to be the solar set up. I had gone through all of the usual checks, but was reluctant to take the solar stuff apart because of voiding any warranties. We both said there would be a hidden switch. And there was.

Excuse the typos. I am having to use my kindle, and it knows what I want to say better than me!

It's why I alwaysa watch tradesmen when they do a job for me. You'll not be caught out by a £30 switch next time, plus you saw what he did when he was tracking the fault in the first place. :)

Update. Phoned timber merchant after the electrician went and ordered some.more timber for a project I have on at home. Spoke to the merchants wife who said her hubby Kev said he had forgotten to give me discounts on last week's order, so she knocked £30 off todays order. Yay.

It was the invertor that tripped. It's covered by warranty.
