Camperjam , swamperjam, damperjam Well it went ahead , thank god i say , Friday was foul all day the doom and gloom merchants tried their best to dampen the tlb spirit but their efforts fell on deaf ears , we the hardy and delightful tlb campers were up for it and there was no going back . Somehow we got to our pitches , we broke down , we got lost and we took dodgy shortcuts across muddy fields pursued by security guards clad in hi viz jackets and wellingtons , they had no chance magical Trev is a expert in pursuit and he was gonna make it , the sight of his yellow van and trailer combi bouncing across the muddy mess was worth the wait . Once settled the rain eased , gazebo city was erected and the bon ami flowed , we met new friends and old , we drank we ate , we sang and we danced , all aided by copious amounts of Lou’s strega woodys winter ale and Adam and Amandas superb pizzas , nobody seemed to mind the four inches of mud we were paddling in . Saturday morning was take stock of the mud morning , Lou and i had parked in a massive puddle , my van was sinking and there was a gynormous pool outside the door , baybirmingham turned up took one look then persuaded me a move might make our stay more comfortable , so we upped sticks and moved , not far but somewhere drier . Saturday afternoon in the blazing sun we went of to the hill of death and mountain boarded , a group event this , some of us went on the boards and fell off while the group fell about laughing, thankfully i only fell off once and that was due to a flat tyre , others provided further entertainment by falling off a few times . The trade area was a disgrace , the traders rightly felt peeved but fair play to them most of them stuck around despite the handicap and provided a service . The tlb company are now renamed in my mind to the “ delightful “ tlbers , the mood was jolly and gay even though the predicament wasn’t , Birdy , Dave and liz left the warmth of the smoke to slum it with the northern mob in a mudbath , through all the rain on Friday and the odd break down they never even considered going back to the smoke , hardy southerners , now there’s a new term . Others came from far and wide and only full on break downs stopped the few that never made it , fair play to the spirit of tlb . Zed self armed again on Friday , just so as he could spend a night eying up nurses in Telfords A n E department . When the chips are down tlb normally come up trumps , i think the pure determination to have a good time in spite of the conditions on Friday night did the trick , it expelled the rain gods from Weston under Lizard , we had a great time , we even managed a line up and group photo on Sunday before we left , ok so it wasn’t a official line up , but it was true tlb spirit showing through again , we dragged our saggy bottoms out of the quagmire found a nice dry spot , decorated up our forty year old vans and the sun shine , we even had a landy in there to continue the tlb tradition of mish mash line ups . No portaloo sunset this year folks , just a lovely time with lovely people who know how to party in any conditions - drunk or sober !. Thanks all , when can we book for next year ?.
