Calling electrical experts

  1. Can someone eyeball my 240v hookup installation please.

I ripped out the 40 year old stuff, so it's all new. I believe I have followed the rule book, but would appreciate some critique from you experts please :)

Note - I have wired one white wire to the socket in the picture, the other wire will be going to the fridge.

Ignore the evidence of fire :) That's many many years old :)

It’s a bit messy the cables need securing better and you need a box on the back of the socket.

  3. This ^ grommets through penetrations too

  6. I tested it, all seems OK. And getting someone to check it out. But thought I'd get you lot to check first in case I missed something silly Feels really good knowing the wiring is all new.

  7. Nothing can be as bad as what was in my van when I bought it.
From the hook up socket it had
3 core cable to a switch onto a light bulb then onto the sockets

  8. Fitted an A/C split in a customers house years ago, found lump in carpet running length of room, pulled carpet back to find bell wire linking one socket to another

  9. Could you move your contact breakers about 5º to the right, please? It's getting my OCD going. Thx.

  11. box required, very messy, glands on cabling to stop it moving and cable ferrels on ends and what size cabling is it. Have you tested with a martindale type tester to make sure wired correctly and lastly ask someone to do trip times on your Rcd unless your close I can do it............

  12. Many thanks. The cables are 20amp (orange, feed to rcd) and 15amp (white, from rcd to appliances).

I'm in Benfleet, Essex ... is that close to you? [IMG]
