Calling early Devon roof owners

  1. I got a battered early Devon roof with my van and am beginning to refurb it. I have cut out the rotten wooden bracing from the bottom fibreglass section and am glassing in new wood. I am fitting an awning rail to go on the sliding door side. I have noticed that the front and back of the fibreglass section aren't identical. One end looks like it sits closer to the roof - I assume this is the front as it sits on a flatter section of roof. Can anyone confirm?

The front of the roof is further back so it has a higher arch of the roof to go over..

Picture will appear when my DNS change goes through.

  3. Great, thanks.

You don't also happen to have a photo of the method of fastening the fabric to the base, do you? I gather it should be a bit of aluminium bar screwed down through the fabric and into the timber baton that is glassed into the base - but would welcome confirmation.

I am wondering if I should glass in some studs and use these to secure the ali strip to make a neater job and reduce water ingress (fasten in fewer places).
