The back up 'should' do everything ... you can then do a fresh reboot and restore using the back up. In theory it is an exact copy of your phone the moment you do the back up. Worth doing once a week ... remember - back up!
Do you ever turn your iphone off? Worth doing that over night once in a while, helps it clear itself. Most people leave their phones on all the time now, they are like computers so need a bit of off time...
Make sure you close all the open apps once per day. Press the home button twice and it brings up a list of apps running in the background. Hold your finger over one for a couple of secs and little stop signs appear. You can then close them all down. Hope that helps
^this. Double click on the home key and kill all the displayed apps. When you close an app down, it actuallystill sits there asleep, still using memory.
^^ however the iPhone is made so that it will keep apps open until the memory is full then if you want a new app open it force closes the oldest and least used open app so it shouldn't be a massive issue.
