Calling all Auto owners - MPG question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by jim mcglynn, Jun 14, 2021.

  1. FI is always going to be better mpg as ideal AF from idle through to full throttle. With carbs there’s always a compromise at certain throttle openings. Also on overun injectors close off whereas with carbs you’re pulling fuel through the idle circuit on overun. It might not be much but it all adds up.

My later box changes up at between 40/45 mph ... I'll have to see what it does after its been refurbed.

    Spoil sport.

Even so, standard FI still gets very good MPG’s

  5. mines a 1700 on a weber progressive and average 25- 26 on a run, less around town

  6. 24mpg is pretty good for a Subaru engine in a bus. Even in it’s original car mainly due to it being 4WD average mpg is about 25-30

I’ve had late 20’s before on a long run across France no stopping.
