Caliper Identification - help please

  1. Hi, Just dropped my offside caliper off of the bus and I am somewhat surprised to find that the hard brakeline input is at the top of the caliper - I was expecting it to be in the middle.

    The gap between the pistons is 55mm, disc is 278mm x 86mm x 13mm.

The reason for this post is that my van has had a replacement beam fitted and it's a LHD beam on a RHD van. Not sure where the beam was sourced.

Could my late bay be fitted with a cross-over set of discs and calipers??

    Many thanks

  2. .... think I've cracked it - the caliper mounting bolts give it away. The crossover versions are the same upper and lower, the late bay versions have a different type of bolt for the upper and lower mountings.

    Mine is defo late bay.

  3. one year only (71-72) calipers measure 47mm between pistons 73-79 measure 55mm

  4. Whatever the boltage, I believe VW took calipers from both ATE and Girling. The pipework's different on the Girling.
