I believe I have California spec side lights as she was an import. So the rear red lens ones accompany side lights and work as such.

Any idea what the two front orange pair are supposed to do. I’d assume indicators, but as nothing’s happening on either side, maybe they don’t need wiring in in Uk regs? Or maybe in need to sort em out o_O. (The two front facing and rear indicators work of course)

The front pair on the cab doors are literally plain reflectors, they do not have bulbs or wiring fitted. Our '77 Westy has the same as you.

I have seen someone off here add bulbs to the front ones and they look cool!

Have you got the small sidelight bulbs in the indicators (they light up as sidelights)?

Ah, just reflectors :) Yep, I have small sidelight bulbs in rear red lights on the rear sides that look nice at night, front ones would probably look good lit up too.

I must admit to being tempted to do ours and add a bit of colour on the doors :)

  9. I've put 3 of the flat 12v leds in, fed via a 5mm hole in the door. Illuminated with the side lights and flash with the indicators.
Safer as the front lights don't shed any light sideways, especially with eyebrows fitted.
DARN ! Too slow Snotty pic, soooo. much cooler

  12. Lol. They deffo serve a purpose when you're thrashing down the motorway in the pee-ing rain. Folk have no excuse for not seeing you.

Mine flash with the indicators, and come on full time with the sidelights on. The Mk II version will flash in sync with the indicators when the sidelights are on.

The markers front and rear are self-contained LED jobs, like you see on the side of artic trailers. quite elegant.

Only thing is your steering wheel on the wrong side Nipper….
My Texas XO only had reflectors on the front and the same for my cali 79 blue plate van also ,
I don’t know what states had them from 0n front from factory
    :)

  14. Mine's a UK-spec van with the sidemarkers (and US-spec indicator housings) added on.

My front ones are reflectors and the rear ones light up :)

  16. And that is how it should be. You've got additional small bulbs in the indicator housings that shine sideways, and dual-element bulbs to act as front markers.

  17. I gathered that … and I suspect you used the rear side marker lamp holders in your doors and drilled out a hole for them to fit ?
    :)

  18. I had no holes anywhere, being a Euro-spec bus.

  19. You have now otherwise the lamp holders wouldn’t fit :)
