The piece of metal which bolts to the winder mech and pinh holds the glass with a bit of rubber in.

    This is the repro

    See my problem?

Where do I buy an exact copy of an original one. My window won't shut. That's how I broke the last mech because I thought it had snagged and just needed a bit of force

  2. I needed to replace the n/s one as it had corroded through but I fabricated a new channel from sheet steel, then drilled out the spot welds holding the old channel to the bracket then welded the new channel to the old bracket and it all works ok. If you've still got the old bracket weld the new channel on to it .

the old bracket is not there. and i couldnt make a channel as i cant bend the metal that close with my metal bender, which is a shame.

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Why does that dimension matter? Can't see it myself.
Those repro are rubbish though, I fitted one and the spot welds gave way the first time I opened the window.

because when the winder mechanism reaches its highest point just where it bends, if the window is sitting lower than a standard channel, it wont close all of the way. that extra 10-11mm would mean my window shuts properly

  6. You could extend the bracket if you've any suitable steel handy and drill new holes lower down to give the extra lift .
