bought two new brazilian cab doors ....fitted a pair of the soft german rubber cab door seals........the garage fitted the original hinges with the ( 15mm pins ?) on the nearside and it fits 95% ok after alot of adjustment .......i think the seals will settle in flush with time. however on the drivers side there is something wrong........ as the cab door is 10mm proud of the bodywork line ........it appears the garage have fitted a new hinge to the drivers door ......as it is different because it has a more narrower hinge pin and when closing the door it seems to bind approx 5 to 6 inches from actual door closure. but before the german seals were fitted to be fair to the garage ....both doors fitted virtually flush to the bodyline ! any suggestions advice would be welcome. tried to load one photo onto site ...struggling it keeps saying file is too big...will try again later with some technical assistance from a computer guru!
upload the photo as a file....using the "upload a file" bottom right could be several things.....there's a certain amount of adjustment available in the hinge screws, but 10mm proud and binding sounds a bit much
The hinge pin size is of no consequence as the pivot point is the centre of the pin whatever size it is. It sounds like the front's too far in. I would remove the seal temporarily, it's far easier to adjust the door, then put the seal back.
Where you based? Could be as zed says the front of the door is to far in, but maybe the door needs a but of bending
they need shaving like the rubbers, theres a tool you can make with a lump of wood and a blade that will take 1mm at atime off i will look for it ,cant find it but it looks like a upside down plane, not the flying type for the jokers
Don't shave your seals. They become porous if you do and there really is no need. If your seals appear to need this treatment something isn't right but it's not the seals.
