Just noticed the replacement 2nd hand doors ive bought dont have the pull up/ push down knob to lock/ unlock the doors.
So i assume the lock will be on the release handle?

Im hoping to swap all the internal bits from my doors as the doors i bought were stripped of all workings.
    Is this possible?
And what else will i need to buy?

  9. Like your spray booth! :)

I wouldn't have bothered covering the doors - they're white anyway... I mean - what's the chance of the missus noticing loads of over-spray all over the plastic...

Spray liberally with waxoyl inside the doors after painting. Make sure you dont block the drain holes at the front.
Make sure you park nose downhill as much as possible to let the doors drain. Nose uphill leaves a lake of rain water at the rear of the door.

  11. They look in good shape. I'd compare the inner door pressings with your old ones. Can drill a hole in the top for the button, but the earlier pressings might not have the recesses for the nylon rod guides and other stuff. If not, you'll need to find the hardware for the older "buttons" in the door release.

As above, absolutely flood the insides with Waxoyl, or the doors will rot. They're an awful design.

It will be a NOS Hazet / VW hole boring tool that comes complete with a jig that locates the pull position relative to the lower door hinge and the bolt hole at the bottom for the removable window felt track guide.
The top edge will be aligned with a micrometer. A table of chassis numbers will have to be consulted to find the correct setting...
