cab door winder problems

  1. Morning all, just spent a frustrating weekend trying to rebuild my door glass, I have fitted new seals and a nice new quarter-light frame(fixed), new felts etc. The winder mech which appears to be a replacement had some problems so I stripped it down and rotated the spring drive to use a non worn side and attempted to refit everything. It jammed as soon as I tried to lift the window, so I removed the felt guide channels to see how things were lining up. They weren't even close! As I wound the window up I could see that it was trying to go out of the frame to the outside this may explain why the door, which has had a new skin fitted possibly badly, did not have the upper pair of M6 bolts for the mech fitted when I took it apart. To counteract this I tried fitting the window channel on the "wrong" side of the lifter with a couple of washers for extra spacing, this sort of worked now have I done something incredibly stupid. Should I look for an original second hand part or carry on bodging? I have also noticed that the glass doesn't seem to go high enough by 8-10mm.
Any help appreciated. Also anyone round Shrewsbury got a second hand original RH mech they no longer require?

  2. Well fixed repro winder by removing spring and reversing it, seems to work. Door repairs are awful gave it some attention with hammer and some wooden levers and I think it will hold up till I replace the lot.
