Hi, Are there different cab door lock actuator rods for different years of van? During the body resto my van had two new complete cab doors. It would now seem that the actuator rod in the drivers door is about an inch too short and won't provide sufficient throw to allow the door to lock. Disconnected the door lock works just fine.
Check that the internal opening handle thing is in the right place, the fixing hole position for these changed at one point. If you have a door card to hold in place that should enlighten you.
cant you cut the rod into two pieces, pop a thread on the end of each half and put a threaded spacer in to make the rod longer?
I'll measure up the gauge of the wire and make a whole new rod if I can...... I don't have a die set that would manage such a small diameter. I'm more worried about the door cards looking odd or not fitting now :s
The handle should be in the same place relative to the doors on all years/doors. The cards are all the same. What changes is just the fixing hole positions in the door and the matching inner pull handle to suit. You just have a mismatch by the sounds of it, totally sortable - bodgery or a matching handle is the way forward.

Sadly the ones I have are without the lock tab bit and black plastic - about as far from what you want as possible.
