  1. i know 70's vehicles were not some of the best built regarding panel fit,:gnome:

well my 70's yanks were not,:(

so how should my cab door gaps work out,

im fitting new door skins and genuine arches...[American cuts]

i have 4mm along the bottom of the door

drill bits make good spacers... DSCF3601.JPG

Rear gap is a bit big. Should be about the same as along the bottom. Whats the front like?

Yeah go with Davidofts figure. My passenger side is probably slightly larger at 6mm or so along the bottom but should be fine. Drivers side is proving to be tricky as the rear gap seems a bit big but hopefully I can improve the fit when I get round to the arch proper.
Still need to source a drivers wheel tub cut though. @davidoft any in your bounty?

Yeap interested still. Can you PM me some pics and a price. Lip on ours is completely gone and the rear flange where it joins the bulkhead looks pretty rusty.

I looked at bending the hinges..but they look quite substantial..

I added some shims between hinges to push it back a bit..
    Will take another look tonight..

  12. Large pair of Stillsons :) Need to do them both evenly, 1mm difference makes a lot once the length of the door comes into play

Don't bend adjust shuffle or shim anything until the end, if you need to adjust before you start adjust the gap itself

  14. yup ..:hattip:
im gonna set the arch in place using the door,
    getting 5mm top and bottom,

then stretch the arch into place ..forward..

i can then move the door backwards and forwards, the gap is a constant between the A and B post ..

this may take a few days...:p

  15. i have sorted the door gaps top and bottom using 5mm drill bits as spacers

then i welded some sleeves into the b post..

[ there was more rot in my post , than the size of the cut..]

i then screwed the arch to the b post on some elongated holes ,with washers on and adjusted the arch up a few mm to the right position ...

heres a pic , of it at the moment ..
that was an hours work ..

will fill in the panel at the back of the arch before preping and welding up the arch..:)
