Cab door alignment

  1. Hi all.
My passenger door is very clunky to shut as the door is a tad low for the striker plate.
Tried pushing the striker plate down as much as poss but still nit quite lining up correctly so need to lift the door up a couple if mm.
    How do i do this?
    Thanx.

  2. If the whole door needs lifting loosen the hinge bolts(make sure someones holding the door) and lift. If the door isn't square in the frame then you can get hold of the Back lower corner(of the door) and lift it up against the weight of the van a few times. Alternatively you can shim the hinges

  3. Try putting a shim or two thin washers between the hinge and the body to push the door up at the lock end, you will need to mark around both hinges and have an assistant to help :) not an easy job, a lot of trial and error hence why its best to mark around the hinges before you start.

  4. Many thanks guys - I take it there is no adjustment where the hinge bolts (welds?) to the door itself?

It only needs a couple of mm just at the back of the door (the front lines up ok), so I would guess a couple of very thin washers between the lower hinge & the door jam should do the trick.

I will mark up the hinge before undoing the bolts so it remains in the same position, just 'out' a little.

    thanks.
