CA engine code?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Boingmob, May 4, 2017.

  1. Hello I have a 1973 Westy RHD with a CA engine code but I cant find if this is a 1700,1800 or 2000 engine. The M-plate decoder says the van originally had a CE 1700 engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  2. CA is a 1700 :)

Or was when it left the factory !! Could have been rebuilt to anything now !

CA is, or was, a 1700. It could be almost anything now of course.

  4. I had a 2l fan house and 1700 case

  7. Thanks chaps. I was hoping it was the original engine until I noticed the CA stamp on the fan housing, the m plate decoder says it left the factory with a CE code. Good news is I have saved £50 getting the museum certificate thingy.

  8. Neither of my type 4s are stamped on the fan case

The stamp on the fan housing isn’t necessarily the engine number, although it was when it left the factory. Check on the crankcase below the breather tower.
