  1. Anyone bought them? Any idea what the transparent plastic bits are for?

Not sure ..looking at it , it doesn't fit in between the ball joint taper and the dust cover ..was it squashed in to the dust cover narrow end just to keep it strait when bought ?

I treated them as transit protectors and a reminder to work some moly grease into the joint unless you want them all stiff and creaky in 6 months time.

  6. Boots, not joints.

  7. It will fit over the taper inside the boot. Maybe that’s where they’re supposed to go o_O

Without having a clue what you're on about, throw them away.

  9. I've decided they fit under the boot on the taper to stiffen things up a bit. I left them off. One spare arm done, three to go. All the joints have got about 0.5mm play in them, but likely better than the replacements.

  10. Just a stupid guess,
Are they friction packers between the ball and boot to stiffen and allow grease circulation

Like I said a stupid guess

  11. Dunno. I think they're just stiffeners. Trouble is, as the boots aren't the double-bubble type, if you fit them it stiffens up the boot so much that at full stretch it pulls the boot off the arm.

  12. Sounds like it’s best to discard them

Perhaps more research required , that will give me something to do

As you're not showing us these bits (or I missed it somehow and still can't see it) I wonder if they are supposed to be inside the the boot to stop the neck of the boot sliding down. I have noticed all new boots these days are squashed flat and springy, they don't like being extended and tend to try and resume their natural squashed state

What a strange thing. Obvious answer - ask C&C?

  16. I did. They don’t know either. Think they’re intended as boot-stiffeners.

Excellent, so they have something made but don't know what it is or how to use it... or they put a collection of parts from China in a C&C box and that legally counts as "made by C&C".

  19. Made in the UK, I believe.

So are an enormous quantity of things where none of the component parts are made here, but I'll take your word for it. :)
I wasn't really joking - it is good enough to select a bunch of items, box them and label it made in the uk. Or maybe you have to screw a couple of the parts together. It's something to do with adding value.
