Me too. There was a time when import taxes suddenly rose so high that every man and his dog were smuggling/buying smuggled goods. Smuggling became a ruthless competitive "business". We were something to do with the Hawkhurst gang, one of the more violent gangs. These gangs were fighting each other for market share/exclusivity in their patch much as drug gangs still do today.

At this point i was going to nominate we use the 3-2-1 clue technique where you would win dusty bin or a car, with clues so completely random you stood no chance.

    Then I found this pearler.

No matter how much help some people get they will always fail....

Jeff Bezos is estimated to be worth about 200 billion dollars. As there are 8 billion people on earth, each one would only get 25 dollars. Still, it's a couple of beers!

My wife’s ancestors were Spanish pirates apparently that came over a few centuries ago (Jagos) and settled in Cornwall. There are still two really old family graves down in a church near Swanpool, of them. One of her later than that ancestors came up to Bristol and became the mayor there. ( still a long time ago). No slave traders, though. All doctors and surgeons.

  8. Having just finalised the estate of my late brother-in-law (only took two and a half years), he might as well have left a fake treasure map. No will, and we, and HMRC, had no clue where the money went. He went diving in Egypt and the Caribbean, so it could well be in Davy Jones's locker...

Oooh. My mother’s family were the Jeggos. Which was apparently Welsh / Cornish.

A massive influx of Cornish came to Wales at the start of the coal rush.

I believe the Cornish, due to tin mining expertise were world leaders in mining and ex pat cornishmen went to all four corners of the world to mine there.
