Hi we have what we now think is a Danbury (but looks like bunks added by an amateur) ?! Heavy and brackets look quite rubbish... Which bunks are best to fit that are fairly light yet stable?! Just Kampers???
the devon ones are uneccessarily heavy...made from mild steel...in fact all the bunks I've seen are quite cumbersome, for what you get. Do you have to have bunks, or could you rig up a full width bed across the roof aperture?
What's the aperture in the roof like (I don't know how big a hole your type of roof has). If you went the full width bed route you'd only need to cut some ply to fit the roof and fit a cross member of some sort (I have a leftover one from our SpaceRoof you could have if you go down that route).
this sort of thing? post a pic of the roof aperture and folk will advise....if it's just for small kids, I'd rig up a pair of hammocks...they can't fall out, and they'll pack up small (the hammocks that is....not the kids)
Hi the van is with the chippy doing the units but I'll get measurements it's quite a good space up there though .. Danbury roof we think it is...
the only real issue is the need to store a matress.... something like this could be stored in an awning bag under the back seat, or you could devise something similar to a cab bunk, but for the roof funnily enough, I'm just about to make something similar, but for roof storage...based on a seal rescue stretcher...(it takes all sorts)
that is so good!! that is so good..!! our roof is a danbury we think so hope could do similar thing...
