We bought a bunk and put it on as the hooks were there already but trying to get it on and off is a nightmare and we have to screw the hooks off to get bunk on and off because it butts up to the windscreen rubber and the hook can’t come back much further, surely this is not right? Can’t see no other way ??? 970F7540-C8D6-4644-91AA-F56151943A1C.jpeg

  2. It looks right. Is it an original canvas or a reproduction?

I usually attach the windscreen side first, then the b pillar side. Doing the last clip you have to stretch it. It’s quite taut as the tension helps hold it in place.

Actually it might be the other way around, but you get the idea. You hang it from one side and stretch it to clip to the other. And yeah, it’s a tight fit with the windshield seal and scratches the paint.

  3. Its a reproduction and it's quite taut which is fine

The way you explain is exactly the way we try to do it but it seems we get one side in no problem but cant get the other side in it's like the windscreen seal is too close to the clip its very bulbous that's why we have to unscrew it so it comes out just over level with the seal

Put a spacer behind the bracket and if you make it wide enough it would protect the paintwork.

  5. I bought a reproduction canvas for my upper hammock. It was too taught to open and I ended up sending it back.

Are the metal bars original? The spacer sounds like a good idea. You could also try bending the tabs a little for a better fit or getting the canvas wet so it stretches better and leave it installed for awhile.

This is kind of how it goes with most aftermarket stuff...never quite fits without some fiddling.

Can you take a picture further away , which way is up , the brackets may be on upside down

  7. Ours is similar but can be positioned with a bit of a wiggle and shove. Perhaps you could grind a mil off the hook? Perhaps at an angle to leave more meat at the bottom?

  8. Ours is a repro. Deffo slackens off after a few uses. I’d chuck it in the van and leave some stuff on it.

  9. If it turns out that removing a bracket each time is the only way to put it in place without scratching paint, you could put rivnuts in the pillar and then use butterfly bolts to make the process less of a pain in the back....

  10. The rivnuts sounds a perfect idea

I think its the windscreen seal on the inside is the problem it just seems to thick and bulbous
