    ....and where to get them.
    Grommets if you prefer.
Basically the search for those rubber things that block up the myriad of holes in pillars and panels that VW saw fit to leave all around the interior (and occasionally exterior) of my van.
Good for squirting waxoyl into, but requiring easy access bunging afterwards.
Where does one acquire such things, oh fountain of knowledge that is TLB?

    For example.....

  2. You'll have to measure up the holes, but you can get all of this kind of stuff on fleaBay. Blind grommets or for the exterior "underseal bungs". Forget where I got mine from... have a search. They do exist.

  3. PS Some of the holes in the interior VW deliberately left open/unplugged.

'Blind grommets' and 'underseal bungs'... brilliant, thanks @snotty! I'd tried vast amounts of googling and ebay searching, but without knowing what keywords to use, you can imagine how many results (appropriate and er 'less so'...!) that I was coming up with.

Any idea why? And I guess if VW did it, then who am I to change it, but....
I've got a bit handy with the waxoyl can, and the smell is a little 'chemical' in the warm weather! Thought bunging 'em up might be the answer.

  6. Who knows. Some may be tooling holes, used to hold the pressings while they welded everything together.

Try "underseal plugs" as well. I got a load of fleaBay to bung up various orifices in my van after I'd done the cavities. 8mm?

  7. The ones in the cab area look like they are for a bunk

They're not threaded, but I have no experience of the cab bunks or how they actually attach, so could well be.
It's a Devon, did they do them?

  9. Not sure on the Devon but I think bluebird do a bunk which has sprung poles to fit in holes like that. May have been a devon thing originally!

A ha, yes that looks like it would utilise these holes.
Might bung 'em up anyhow if I can find the right size on the ol' Bay of Eeeeeeeee.

    Ta for the help chaps!

Yep got the spring loaded bars and the holes in the pillars. No hammock.

They were the cause of me thinking I had been tail ended the first time I managed to properly stop on my first ever drive of any T2 as I drove it away in an eBay induced "what can go wrong its got 5 days MOT" haze...
They crashed into each other in the box under the rear seat..
