want to take the rubber strip off the chrome front bumper to get to the bolts so i can remove the bumper to fit the overriders, can see the strip is screwed/bolted at the edge but what else holds it on? don't want to rag it and damage the rubber strip or clips? behind....cheers.

  2. from memory it was just the tension clips at either end.

might have been glued as well or just stuck through ageing

Ricky, its an allen bolt either end that holds it in place, I think it could be a 5/32" af one or 5mm, if you gimme a moment I have one here at the side of me :)

yes it certainly is, there is a clamp type mechanism either end that takes up and slack in the rubbers & pulls it tight

  9. I think it gets stuck over the bumper bolt heads as the rubber has been compressed into the same shape for some time.

take it easy at first, once it starts it should come away no problem. Might be worth warming it gently with a hair drier to make it a bit more supple?

I think the clips are the weak point, if they are corroded they could easily break.....and I dont think they would be easy to repair.

can you refit it after you've put on overriders? or are you leaving it off

    good luck mate :)

yes diddy it's going back on, but the chrome seems a bit flaky behind the bumper so i want it off to examine, also want to get some wax and polish on the panel behind and fit the overriders, i'll be gentle and if the clips break i'll have to work it out....i'm hoping they aren't rusty though.
