Hi, is it possible to remove the small bulkhead behind the front passenger seat and make it into a swivel seat? Or is that bulkhead structural? Thanks scott
Am not sure but I have seen many people do this conversion and was thinking of doing this myself. Am sure we will get an answer from some one who knows lol. Great to hear your making changes already. We need pictures fella lol.
I'll get some more pics once it's out of my mates garage , just thinking about what we can do with the interior , it's got a full width bed but nothing else, would like a little cooking unit, Deffo an overhead locker for storage too!
This has been done to my bus. Passenger seat bulk head chopped out. Captains chair swivel thing installed. Done over. 12 years ago. No idea if it is safe from structural point of view. I'll go and take a photo.
The thing above the fire extinguisher is meant to provide strength, it doesn't look like it does anything on mine
Yep looks nice that, I've got a double swivel on my t4 van and it opens the van up nice when camping , thanks
It's fine to remove one or both, normally a small triangular gusset is welded in at the bottom just as VW themselves did on the vans.
Now that I like. Both of my bulkheads were removed by a previous owner. Now, I've no intention of fitting swivel front seats, but I may appropriate the above idea to neaten up the current hacked about mess...
Think the seats in there are from a mondeo or something, they recline anyway so think they'll be ok without the support, looks tidy with it cut out though
Odd question @matty, but do you have the bulkhead you removed? Does anyone know if anyone has ever reinstated one that has been removed?
Sorry to gate crash your thread but I am about to do the same to my passenger and driver seat bulkheads. I have cut so far across, see pic and was going to leave a support triangle at the bottom and it also hides the seat belts. Its also welded across the bottom and so far up the side, so i thought i would leave them alone. Has anyone done this ?
