Broke my helsinki sunroof!

  1. Haha!

  2. It had cracks running out of the mounthing screws, we are now around to refitting the pop top, so I've been purchasing the spares required.

  3. It's great some of the stuff they've got. My Berlin has the acrylic double glazed windows in the back and I cracked one getting it out. This is the only place I know that does them. However for anybody who wants to know you can repair this type of plastic (though yours may be a bit far gone Clive). Just search for "caravan window repair" and look for the Bondrite plastic weld repair kit..

  4. The sunroof is totally beyond repair,a new one was definately required.
So you also have the double glazed rear windows like me!
    Pretty cool stuff!

  5. Yes I also had the big tyre box on the front but it was not to my taste so had to lose it. One day I guess somebody will tell me it was a rare sought after feature and I drastically lowered the value.

  6. Yay - TLB is your friend once again Clive!

  8. Thanks for the reassurance Dicky. I didn't even save the parts - just took them to the dumpit site.

  9. Does the double-glazing make an appreciable difference inside?

  10. Difficult to say. It's on four of the back windows, but I also have louvres in the sliding door and the fronts are not double glazed. At best it reduces condensation in the back.

My bus is a German spec Berlin and I think the original owner was a winter sports fan as it had no fridge but a Trumatic gas fire, so I've surmised the double glazing was an attempt to keep warm in winter. It still gets damned cold though.

  11. The only windows which are not double glazing in my camper are the door windows and front window.
I have slept in it overnight at about 3 or 4 degrees,no rain.
Woke up in the morning and no condensation on the windows, except for the front screen and door windows, not heavy condensation but just a little.
I used my truma sp1800 heater all night on a low setting and it was fine.
Just be carefull when washing these windows,no strong soap or no soap at all.
If they get scratched they can be polished and come up like new.

  12. Oi, I had a 1776 type 1 that didn't leak a drop of oil, and that was properly topped up with oil. :)

  13. I am severely tempted by these double-glazed windows as I see you can still get them (although they are expensive) because although my sliding doors have opening windows, the 3 at the back are fixed. And that's where we sleep. I solved the condensation on the cab windows issue by having one of those screen covers that goes over the outside of the cab doors and the windscreen. I got mine from Bluebird Customs, although a lot of people on here have got custom ones from Bromsgrove Auto Trimmers.

  14. If it is any consolation I ordered quite a bit from them in the past and never realised they were based so close to me, until I ordered a cramer cooker from them and they politely suggested it would probably be a lot easier if I drove 5 minutes up the road to pick it up rather than them having to post it

On the up side now I know they are there I am always popping in for little bits and pieces and they never seem to complain my average order comes to about 3 euro

They have all sorts of T25 in various conditions sat out the front of the shop, but sadly no late bays!

  15. Ok,where are you located?

  16. Darmstadt, about 30 km south of Frankfurt. Vwbusshop is in Griesheim, which is like a small annex-town of here, I guess you would call it.

  17. Cool!

  18. Parts came from Germany today at 13:00 Swedish time!
    Not bad,ordered them on Tuesday.
Sunroof, oil filter and clutch/brake pedal through floor grommets.
Got some work to do on Monday after I drop the kids off at school.
