Brakes lights gone

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by burnzdog, Jun 5, 2016.

  1. Evening all,

Both brakes have gone on my van. Bulbs are fine, fuses look so thinking brake switch, however I'd like to know where it is, are there more than one? And how do I test?

    Thanks

    Check the earth first.

  3. Probaly the brake switch on the master cylinder - bypass it to check

  4. they might be two ,just joint the spades together and see if the light illuminate ,if you have two ,try the winning wires on the other one...

brake switches are easy to replace without bleeding the system....

  5. Thanks guys. So it's front wheels? Do I have to take wheel off?

  6. Just jack the van up and follow the brake pipes back to the master cylinder . Someone may have a picture ??

    :hattip:

Its pretty well under the brake fluid filler and the switch (es) will be on the side of the master cylinder.

  8. look under the van for this thing...

it's the cylinders with the wires ,take the wires (they will be just two)off and join them ,ignition on ,and look at the rear lights..

disclaimer I know this is'nt a bus one...

  9. Thank you gents. Replaced the switch and brakes are back. I like these fixes when they are cheap :)
