Hi , I have a problem with my bus where the front brakes I can feel are coming on slightly as I drive along . First I had new calipers , then master cylinder and hoses . They are still binding slightly - nowhere near as bad as before but still a bit. The van has got 4 inch dropped spindles and a 2 inch narrowed beam. I just had a look myself and it seems to me like the hoses are fairly crunched together especially when turning - they are stock hoses - should I have different ones fitted ???
No I haven't mate - how would I check it (or would I need a mechanic to do this ??) thanks for your help !!
Is the pedal firm up against the underside of the floor at rest? There should be no up/down play at all.
What are the disks like? I had mine with a fair sized lip on them, worn to well under spec so when i fitted new pads it was perpetually rubbing round the edge causing the brakes to drag. Eventually it wore a section out of the perimeter of the pad. Is that a possibility?
Also excuse if this is granny sucking eggs, but disk brakes have the pads in contact with the disks all the time so you always get a slight rub. And if you get a rub when turning and it's on the left this can be the speedo cable. Is the bung in the back of the hub intact?
How do you KNOW they are coming on? Is it noise or are they actually slowing you down? or indeed coming to a grinding halt?
