Brake failure

  1. Whatever ....

It`s not about saving a few quid here and pennies there , just go for the best as you see it .
Ask a question on here and you`ll get a dozen different answers and options . As i see it you need it as a daily , so go into somewhere / get on the computer , place an order and walk out today with what you need . OG refurbed would be nice but @snotty recommended the Brazilian calipers , they`re good - had 2 on mine for about 7 years ..

Brakes are rather important in my book , can`t put monetary value on them failing ...

    :hattip:

  2. Be aware you may need to make up another pair of solid brake pipes for the front calipers, if they put up a fight coming off.

As you’re bleeding the lot, worth changing the rear cylinders as well...

  3. Had the same happen to my bay just after we bought her. Heading down hill towards a roundabout, stamped on the brakes and nowt. Pumped the pedal like mad and got enough of a pedal to stop the bus. One calipers piston seized solid and the disc hot as hell.
    Cooked the bearing too.

  4. Atleast you can replace the rear cylinder's without undoing the hub nut.

  5. ...and the rear flexis ;)...

  6. I’m not necessarily into saving money more best value hence I’ve already said I’ve priced in the highest quality they say they sell both discs and callipers making the assumption that the “exchange” ones are OG but it’s not clear.
My belief has always been OG is usually better quality than pattern stuff.
Which of the GSF offerings are Brazilian?

  7. I would keep the old callipers, you could later refurb them whenever or sell as is on ebay. You need to sort the fronts straightaway, so buy new repro callipers along with new disks, pads and maybe hoses. New Dot4 brake fluid to top up and bleeding. Good thing about new callipers is the bleed nipples won't be seized. Maybe regrease the old bearings. I would not get side tracked on the rears at this time. You could probably get the whole lot from GSF.

  8. Replaced mine with GSF ones a few years ago. Old ones went in bin. Probably should have kept small and refurbed!
