i was wondering if the backing plates for the rear drums being corroded and having holes in them would be an MOT failure? because mine are pretty crap....
may be mate I think that comes under "presence and security" of same ,>>usual disclaimer from me ! expect one of the fellas will be more specific, thou on some other bus sites they have full mot check lists /details ,Voltszone had one ,may be worth a look?
Not sure provided they are solid in holding the wheel cylinders on should be ok. Mine have seen better days but the replacements are costly so keep putting it off.
fair do's cheers guys, as is the way with the bus, as soon as i think i have bought everything i need to for MOT time, i find something else that needs doing... today it was illegal plates, and possibly this, but i dont know what il find tomorrow.. haha does anyone have a link to one of those MOT checklists? the only forum i am on is this one, i found i never needed to be anywhere else!
fraid I can"t do "links" fella, simply type in "voltszone" then clik "forums" then scroll to air cooled mec and tec and at top of "listings " its got the mot heading >job done .is like this site ,some stuff you do not have to be a member to check out same.
Think it'll depend on the tester. Bad backplates won't affect the brakes, as they're anchored top and bottom: the plates really just keep the rain out. Your tester might not view it that way. Rear hubs off to replace, BTW.
Mine are Krusty too - was going to have a go at them before the mot not looking fwd to it. Those hub nuts are scare me
Run bus to local? H.G.V. workshop ,talk nice to foreman ,give him a £5 and he will set about them with his very big "Windy Gun" ,job done .
Not scary if you've got the right kit (which you'll need anyway to do them up again, anyway). 3ft 3/4" breaker bar, 3/4" socket, poss length of scaffold pole - they're off. Worst case, you can grind them off. Not easy, but doable - go for it!
