  1. Why do boy racers cars now sound like they have a fire cracker shoved up their exhaust rev the nuts out of it then have snap crackle and pop out of the exhaust ?

Because their cars are no Better than souped up lawnmowers and all look the same so they have to do something to stand out from the crowd!

But whats worse? The snap crackle and pop brigade, or the comedy turbo noise as they change gear? Discuss

It's like using a clothes peg and a playing card in your push bike spokes isn't it?

Oh I don’t know. My sons little Corsa with the cherry bomb, is great entertainment. Really cheap to run, too.

The Zoom tube on my beetle used to do a good impression of artillery fire when I came of the gas…. I guess the kids today just have different toys!

One thing, you can hear them coming a mile away when you wish to cross the busy road.

However, its the smooth silent Tesla drivers to watch for, stealthy so n so's

What’s wrong with a good old fashioned blast of La Cucucracha, Dixie or Colonel Bogey from an air horn? :D

These boy racers have nothing for noise compared to my Foden 2 stroke in 1st low range climbing a steep gradient .
To be honest i think they would ban them through high noise levels today ...mind you Scania V8 's are howlers too ..nice though .

It is the extra spark plugs in the exhaust surely that account for the noise in some cases. Make sure the excess fuel burns on deceleration..

I have happy memories of beating a Corsa with four blokes in it and a fart can out the back with my bus off the lights on the A43 near Silverstone..

Maybe a colloquialism. We are a bit odd in kiddy but I’ve spoken to other people around the country and they’ve called them fizzers too. Yammy 50 when he first bought it, and it changed to fizzer slowly after talking to his mates I suppose. Never had nicknames for the Honda 50 or the KTM’s which were equally as quick in 77/78 years which is when we owned them. I suppose it could be an era thing?

They were ungoverned in the mid 70’s btw, 65. -75 was the speed range. We lost a few mates on mopeds back then!
