Hi, so last year i decided i was going to get myself a VW camper for festivals and general weekend fun. I done a bit of research and kept my eye on the local and UK adds, I was hoping to get a runner a bit rough round the edges but some of the prices were astronomical!! the bays on offer in my price range you were basically buying a reg book and a ton of scrap. I was starting to consider a T25 when one came up for sale about 40 miles away, it was an already started project which kind of put me off it straight away but went for a look anyway, the guy got as far as striping the interior, cutting the front panel off and had a go at one of the front arches, he also told me the PO had fitted a 1.6 engine as opposed to the 2.0 on the reg book. I had a think, there was a lot to put me off but something was telling me to go for it, I offered what i thought it was worth, got a firm no and went on my merry way. A week later he phoned me and I was the owner of a 78 Kombi . I plan to keep the exterior basic, swap them alloys for steel rims and keep the original colour. the interior slightly more modern . I'll be doing most of the restore from home with the odd bit in work, I work in the maintenance depot of NI railways so I have access to shot blasters, parts washers, lathes etc. This is my first restore and although they say there's no such thing as a stupid question i'm sure i'll come off with a few crackers but any help to get me and this beauty back on the road will be gratefully received. Thanks Tweed
