blocked out number plates. why?

why do people block out their number plates in pics? i was going to post a pic of my bus this weekened but it shows the reg so i thought "best not". no idea why though, just because other people do it.

 

You never know who's watching.....what with all of these fadango gadgety devices they might find out where you live and ....well you know it's not good :-X

 

It helps stop vehicle cloning

If i was a dodgy bloke and id bought a knacker of a vw camper and i needed to get it home with no tax mot or insurance
I could go online and find a bus of simaler type and colour with its reg plate showing
I could then get plates made and stick them on said dodgy bus and every time i went through an anpr camera it would come back as your legal bus
Same for speed camera or congestion charges aswell as parking fines

 

Im a low tech sort of guy so i stick tape over number plates when i take pics
Im sure there loads of members on her that can advise you on how to do it on the computer

 

gaffa tape is like the force

Cable ties are a good second alternative

 

google duct tape wallet its a great project on those rainy camping days
They wear well to boot

 

You can cover up all you want but what happens is someone take a picture of your bus and posts it on "love that bus dot com" and then whatever. Your plate is there for ever hence why I've given up doing it.

If you don't want it happening, remove your plate when you get to a show or whatever. It's quite pointless if I'm honest.

 

i would be more concerned about someone wanting to know where your van is parked up, to nick it, than some speeding camera some where, because at least you can appeal on the summons for speeding fines, which would be better than appealing for a stolen bus,
if some one ever steal my bus i will say this as liam neeson says in taken, i will find you and i will kill you.

 

it's paranoia gone mad, to shake the can of worms a bit here.....do you put pictures up of busses at shows? if so do you take out everybodies plates, or just your own? there are a million pics on this site alone and 99% of them show a plate, it's a total waste of time! if you want to clone a green camper for example then google image Green camper and bang you'll find a plate.
