i was talking to a old lorry driver mate on Saturday and he told me he had not driven a lorry for over 20 years , i asked why and he said - " i parked up one night in a layby on the A48 at Monmouth , i parked close to some tree's and got myself settled in for the night , about 2 am i got up for a pee switched the sidelights on so as i could see my way around the truck and drew back the passenger side curtain to get out that side and there illuminated in the tree by my sidelights not ten foot from me was a bloke hanging from a branch in the tree "- he sharted , started the truck and shot off to the nearest phone box to phone the police - he tried sleeping in his truck a few times after that but couldn't do it and gave up the job . Parp - the bloke had hung himself right there by the truck , i would have sh---t-d my pants too !
ruddy hell fire - that's not clever, what if the tree had broke, it was bound to hit the guys truck & damage it..try explaining that to the boss Obviously the guy who hung himself did not Risk assess adequately
Its not something we have looked into! However BS5837 looks at tree design, demolition and construction, there isn't one for tree testing, unfortunately!
dreadful for all , Sir Arthur ,iam tempted to clap re your post but i expect would be in bad taste(stifles laff)
One of my brothers tenants hung himself from the attic stairs rail. Me brother sold the house at a lost.
Omg...that's really horrible... I'm not surprised he gave up... Don't imagine you get an image like that out of your mind!
I guess he wanted to make sure someone found him to inform his family I spoke to a fellow lorry driver once who told me of one of his errors. He spent a while trying to find somewhere to park for the night, ensuring it was A) quiet and B) dark as his cab curtains were the normal, thinner than your pants type material. He found the perfect spot or so he thought. Just the other side of the nice dark trees he had parked behind was a railway line. Every hour on the hour a high speed train went past and woke him up
Not forgetting the fire brigade as me farther picked up many bits of people who let the train take the strain.
When you have been subjected to something that shocks you and shakes you up you never get rid of that image in your brain A dead human is something that most of us never see our entire lives apart from when there all perfect in a coffin Seeing a dead human in normal everyday circumstances is naturally a shock and for some people that shock and the associated images and smells even the lighting at the time stick in your head for ever
I like to think I'd have tried to get him down just in case there was hope, but I'm not sure I would TBH.
