Blenheim palace

  1. Anyone been to Blenheim palace,we're camped not far from there, and wondered if its worth the entrance fee of £25.00 each which seems expensive for looking around someone else's house and garden.there is an age concession for the over coughing cough 60s or discount for members of The C and C club

We happily paid to go the last time we were in the U.K.

  3. If you pay for a house and gardens day ticket, it can be converted into an annual pass.

Went earlier in the summer, we spent 2 days there and there are still parts of the grounds left to see. Annual pass is well worth doing

  5. probably won't come this way for the foreseeable

  6. We went to a combined mini & VW show at Blenheim, it was many years ago & we didn't pay to go round the palace, Is there a train or something can't quite recall!

What I do recall is my daughter going with her cousins to the porta loos while we were at the car & all we heard was her screaming and it was the scream of real pain so we ran over to them...

Somehow a wasp had got up her jumper and stung her & a biker chap stood in a group nearby spotted what had happened and went straight in and retrieved the wasp from up her jumper with his bare hand saving her from multiple stings of which we were very thankful however from the screaming you'd have thought he was murdering her!

  8. You can get in the grounds for free(or at least could a couple of years ago, assume it's the same still). Great spot for a picnic and you can wander round for miles with great views of the house itself:thumbsup:

  9. thats all changed you have to pay at the entrance

It is a a beautiful house worth at least two visits. And the gardens are also worth it. We bought an annual pass and visited the house twice on it and did a part of the gardens each time. We also saw the Ai WeiWei art exhibition while we were there.. Jostling with the tour parties from China deprived of one of their great artist's works...

Then we let the pass lapse. We will go back in the future.

I fancied going for the country file weekend but has weekend booked up :( can you just nip over the wall by the pub in bladon to get into the grounds gratis?

I've not been for years tho. I remember going to a civil war re enactment there with my parents and seeing big pike in the ponds. I think it may have been 1976 as it was scorchio!

What festival were you at nr Chippy @jivedubbin ?

  18. We're only a couple of miles from Blenheim so we're there a lot - pay once for entry and convert to an annual pass for free (although there is a "locals only" secret way in too).

Festival of transport is on again bank holiday Mon 29 Aug - apply in advance and you'll get free entry incl 2 adults and two children.
