What are people using to restore to original black Dash clock pod Padded part of the dash Various black plastic parts I'm looking for a permanent fix if there is one Thanks
Seem to be some magic ( expensive) stuff being demonstrated on YouTube. I use Back to Black that I've had for years...Turtle Wax or something similar i think.
Sorry for the thread hi Jack @Adrian1975 If anyone knows something that can stop a black dash becoming sticky please let me know. My Fiat Coupe was ‘cleaned’ and whatever was used on the dash has made it go all sticky
Try using some 'multisove' on it....it's made by the CT1 company for working with their sealant products, but seems to have endless uses! Good for shifting excess silicon when doing seals too...
Gtechniq C4 has been mentioned on here before and is really good stuff, though not cheap at just over £20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323357345347
When the dash was out I sprayed the padded part and the air vents with a black dye for rubber and plastic. Still looks really good. I’ll see if I can find the tin in the garage.
Each to their own, but I’m happy with a 43 year old camper looking like it’s 43 years old last thing I’d want to do would be to pay for a product that makes the dash look new. New is overrated IMO, old is where it’s at.
I understand this, that's why I'm saving money and I'm still using the 50yr tyres Dash is far more important as I can see that when I'm driving Only joking
I haven't used this but a very good friend was using it during the week on black plastic bits on a hymer they're selling and were well impressed with it, I'm not sure how long lasting it is though.
I've purchased the gtechnique g4, when it arrives and I've used it I will report back £22 for 15ml it better be good
Isn’t that a glass polish? Gtechniq G4 Glass Nano Polish consists of nano sized abrasives and a citric acid cleaning agent. Like toothpaste and a bit of lemon juice.
I reckon its a Fiat thing, I had a Punto that seemed to have indicator and wiper stalk ends made of Mintos.
Sadly, sometimes what you are doing is cleaning off the hard discoloured surface layer to reveal the decomposing plastic interior. The more attempts at cleaning, the more likely it is to start breaking down with one of the solvents used. Like those screwdriver handles that turn to sticky goo in contact with oil or suntan cream.. Leave it alone or paint it.
