Bizarre tap leak

  1. Didn’t really think this was suitable for the mech tech section - a question for you plumbers out there…

The cold tap in our bathroom leaks. But is completely bizarre. It only leaks when there is a pressure drop in the system :( and this is beyond my understanding of all things plumbing….
For example- flush the loo and the tap starts dribbling. Loo system fills up, and it stops?

    I just don’t get it?

    yours,

    Confused from the narth.

Don’t know why it happens but I’d just change the washer or tap body and the question won’t arise again.

I’m at the age where everything confuses me so the above answer is how I deal with most things now :(

  3. Under pressure things are tight ,lose the pressure and you lose the tight fit of any seal

  6. Think I’ve got a roll of Extra Thick PTFE tape in the garage.

Do I just wrap it over the end of the nozzle do that it stops dripping?

  7. Yep. That’s what a professional would do.

You need a whole tube of clear silicone over the pipework too..

He's undercharging.... my tennant decided to call the emergency plumber last weekend.....just got a bill for £288 ... that was to turn power and gas off to boiler and stick a " condemned " sticker on it.
    Dam expensive those stickers.

  17. This is why plumbers are all cruising round in BMWs, smoking Cuban cigars.
