for a long time, I've wanted to replace the curtains in my bus with something better... I've looked at roller blinds, venetian blinds, etc. but nothing fits the bill... the problem is to do with the curvature of the van. anything that hangs leaves gaps, so I've buggered about with magnets, curtain rod etc. to no avail. What I'd really like would be something similar to a Seitz casette blind, but custom made to fit the bus Obviously, this would cost all my limbs and a percentage of torso to have made, so thought I'd look into how to make something similar... It will involve making curved formers and a mould.... So the question is, does anyone have any experience of this in their job, or know of someone to speak to about it? The money's in the time taken to reach a design....the actual materials are cheap... Yes I know I need to get a life....
Could you adapt those Swish type curtain rails, but two vertical ones either side of each window? They're plastic so could follow the curve of the window I'd like an investment of £100,000 in return for a 10% stake....you in?
Id though of having drop down blinds but with curtain tape either end and the sew-in curtain runners with a length of silent gliss fixed vertically )and then I wondered if I could actually be arsed,) Thats probably why i still dont have any curtains fitted.
Just use old newspapers on the windows like you do when decorating at home - then you can use them as loo roll later ! Use a fresh set of newspaper for the next day.
couldnt you just put louvered opening ones on the out side , thats what they use in france n the med , that way it takes up no space inside n gives your bus the shat oh look
Am wondering if you could use the magnetic strips similar to the ones you see driving school and taxi's for when they don't want the sign on. We used to use them on work vans to go across the 7 bridge - they looked like blacked out windows so you could claim it was a caravalle sort of thing. Could you use them on the inside, overlapping the glass?
Joking aside my mum has a tonne of brand new net curtains she gave to me but has been sat in the warddrobe as I hate nets - you are more than welcome to have them free of charge! (pickup only though as they would cost a fortune to post!) I am in North Manchester area!
Thanks for the offer stan but I'm not a net man myself.... I'll investigate all possiblilities, including the newspaper option... What I'm after are pleated drop down vinyl blinds with aluminized backing to retain heat....with no gaps I've figured out a way to make them using thin aluminium strips as fabric stiffener....magnetic fixings along the top and bottom...whether I get round to making a frame is another thing....
I thought they put bromide in the tea to stop 'that sort of thing'. Good that your nan worked with what she had.
