Birthday present for a 3 year old boy. Any ideas?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Baydreams, Oct 13, 2011.

  1. He's already got a push bike, a train set and all of the usual toys that a 3 year old's got (including some nice Bay models). I say 'all', but I'm sure I'm forgetting something, which is where I need your help.

My son's going to be 3 in two weeks time. What can I get him for a pressie? I just haven't got a clue. Any ideas?

  2. spud gun

  3. a pedal car, my sons both had beetles i bought them a little battery power stereo, and toy tool box to put in the back so they felt all grown up , my older son loved his go-cart at 3. my younger son loved his electric car which was also a beetle, could also get an electric motorbike if he prefers bike over cars ???

  5. Depends on how large the family is and how many other presents he will get ... if there will be loads of presents from others then just get a few bits and then treat him to something else at a random point in time when he is being a little star and he will be chuffed to bits!! If there is too many new toys then they soon get overwhelmed by it all.

Three ... duplo is always good (full lego will be too small) or how about a toy tool kit, there are loads out there ... Freya has one and anytime something is being done, out it comes! (and no, hers is not pink, it is a black & decker one I believe!!). Books are also always good and if you have a portable DVD player then something he would absolutely love to watch is always a good idea .. we had several CBeebies collection DVDs when Freya was small and it helped the journeys no end (DVD player is still in use but we appear to have progressed to Barbie films :- not good).

As hailfrank says, playmobil or something along those lines is good as it gets the imagination going, plus you can then add to it at Christmas and get others to get him bits of it too (with guidance and direction before you end up with 3 additional bits the same!).

    Hope that helps!

  6. Playmobil is good

& lego (or duplo for the younger kids)

What is your little un in to?? ......I suppose he's a bit young to have a favourite 'subject' like trains, boats, planes etc?

depending on how much you want to spend, have you thought about getting one of the interactive toys/games. We just got a leapster for our youngest and he loves it!! ....was a bit worried about getting him started on playing games consols early but these are very educational

Or as he's young why not get him some thing small for a present & take him out some where for a treat :D

  7. How about a Drumkit???

  8. Arts and Crafts stuff? iirc when my lad was 3 we got loads of paper, paints, felts, etc and then we got a few simple 'how to' books and we used to spend hours making stuff 8)

  9. A marble run...

it's doing the job in our house, he'll be 3 in Jan ;D

  10. A load of cardboard boxes, a few old sheets, some pegs and fat marker pens and his imagination will do the rest!
    ;D

  17. Our 3 year old (James) got an Octopod as he's mad on the Octonauts - keeps him quiet of hours although it's quite scary when he points out "that's a cuttlefish" or "wow, a comb tooth blenny" when we visit the local aquarium..

Modern day Jacques Cousteau in the making meethinks!
