Hi all Does anybody know how long it takes for a vw birth certificate. I paid and had confirmation in March and since have had no word. Is this normal? Thanks for any comments
It seems to take anything between 3 weeks and 6 months. I'd be chasing if I'd heard nothing since March!
Thanks for the quick response. I thought as much however the missus deleted the confirmation email and it's not clear on the web site who to contact
5th of August, so looks like a while to go, i have both the confirmation emails if there of any use to you
Deleted emails can always be recovered - it's a bit of a drawn out process but can be done. Don't ask me how though - has something to do with archived files I think!
I signed up to The Volkswagen Owners Club (online only version) and got their man on there to give me a birth certificate letter which may or may not be good enough for the DVLA - I will update this thread ASAP as my application for first registering my USA import and historic vehicle at the same time went in the post today as 6 months+ is ridiculous from Auto Museum Germany!
Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to try to contact the museum. I don't want to m.o.t my van twice before driving it on the road!
I think the bus is a 78, I've not done an m plate check as I'm not sure that this would be good enough to avoid getting a q reg plate.
ah ic , forget what ive said then , i thought you was getting it for tax , perhaps one of the boys who have imported can guide you like @Top Banana Racing or another ??
I have a list of people who can "officially" date your VW as distributed by DVLA, it is at work though
It took 9 months for mine but well worth it as can now apply for free tax! The lady doing it has been struggling from staff shortage, sickness etc... I think she was a bit stressed when I emailed to complain, it did get it done though. (Not so sure about German efficiency!)
