Am I reading this right They're only just introducing wheelie bins to Birmingham, people are kicking up a storm coz they don't want them, I can't remember when we had em it's that long ago, I thought everywhere had em yonks back, please tell me that i'm reading this wrong and that the brummies aren't 25 years behind the rest of the country http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-23975866 http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/birminghams-wheelie-bin-roll-out-take-5849325
It's Ricks fault - he doesn't k now how to steer one, so has protested! We have them around here but that's because - we do not live in Brum.
I honestly thought we all had two or three whatever colour are they are, I can't remember not having them
We used to have black for general and green box for recyclables. The we got a green bin for household recyclables. Then they decided to introduce a new green bin for garden waste and introduce a blue bin for household recyclables. This leaves some people with black for general, green for garden, green for household recyclables and blue for household recyclables. I currently have 2 black, 2 green and 2 blues. Handy if want to keep your firewood dry or want to clean large parts with degreaser. Am I boring you yet
It's a quiet backwater for sure. They are just about to introduce wheelie bins here as well though. I doubt it's a coincidence. I don't have a water meter either.
I live in Birmingham. Yes, it's true. The backwards West Midlanders here are only just getting wheelie bins. Believe me, I'm just as flabbergasted, because everywhere else I've ever lived has had them YEARS ago. Yes, they're also moaning about them. The local Tory Party sent round a "questionnaire" on people's views about the wheelie bins. I read it - I call it a "questionnaire" because it was one of the most biased pieces of tosh I have ever read in my life. All of the questions were heavily loaded in favour of trying to get you to say they were a bad idea and the council should have a re-think, with questions like "how inconvenient do you think pulling a heavy wheelie bin is likely to be for an elderly person?" It was the biggest pile of rampant NIMBYism I've ever read in my life. So yes, point and laugh please - who knows, it might embarrass them into realising how backwards they are. I'm just glad that I wasn't born here and so can disassociate myself from the closed-minded attitude of some around here.
